May 26, 2023 10:06:04 AM / by Natalie Scarantino Sadler

The DeNicola Family Foundation has made a gift to support research at the Greenberg Bladder Cancer Institute (GBCI) at Johns Hopkins. The contribution will be used under the direction of Deputy Director of the GBCI, Noah M. Hahn, MD and Professor of Urology and Oncology, Max Cates, MD to assist in expediting bladder cancer laboratory research findings into improved patient outcomes.

The funding will provide Drs. Hahn and Cates with the ability to provide an exceptional and emerging scholar in bladder cancer research with a highly concentrated and rigorous educational experience in the laboratory. Under the mentorship of Drs. Hahn and Cates, the selected scholar will focus on a clinical trial that investigates the benefits of two types of chemotherapy delivery in bladder cancer patients. This endeavor will expand on the existing evidence showing the necessity of personalized approaches to cancer treatment.

“Cancer touches every family. Its important to support research that creates new and more effective treatments,” stated DeNicola Family Foundation Executive Director Morgan DeNicola.
