On Tuesday October 5, 2021 the Cosmo Cares team joined Dr. Gregory Kane and Jesse Roman along with COO Brian Connolly at Jefferson Health to celebrate the gift of breath.
The Jane and Leonard Korman Respiratory Institute at Jefferson Health delivers advanced respiratory care, innovative research, and education to the Philadelphia region. For patients who need supplemental oxygen therapy, it often adds significant financial and lifestyle burden.
Cosmo Cares, the private charitable organization of Cosmo & Janet DeNicola, generously donated portable oxygen concentrators to Jefferson, which can be outside the financial means of patients due to insurance coverage or personal financial situations. Dr. Gregory C. Kane, the Jane and Leonard Korman Professor of Pulmonary Medicine and Chair, Department of Medicine said of the donation. “The ability to provide a portable oxygen device to patients in need is an exciting opportunity for our pulmonary division. This gift will restore some degree of independence and autonomy in the lives of our respiratory patients.”
“We were motivated to make this donation due to our awareness of a global shortage of portable oxygen due to COVID-19, stated Morgan DeNicola, Cosmo Cares Program Director.

The Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) was selected to provide a series of performances in the USA Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai highlighting American artists.
From October 13-October 18, 2021, HDI’s Cultural Envoys, The Harrisonburg Kurdish American String Ensemble, performed a dozen concerts reaching large audiences. The Ensemble is a music group from Harrisonburg, Virginia and is composed of U.S.-born fiddlers and recently arrived Kurdish American immigrants. The group combines Appalachian/County music with the unique sounds of a Kurdish classical tradition. Audiences were amazed by the richness of the fusion, which demonstrated the openness and multiculturalism of the United States.
While The Harrisonburg Kurdish American String Ensemble displayed the richness of American culture in the USA Pavilion, HDI film program alumnus, Jawad Sharif, was representing Pakistan at the Pakistan Pavilion Jawad was a participant in HDI’s 2017 filmmakers training program. This program brings emerging international filmmakers to Los Angeles to work with American filmmakers, directors, and writers. Jawad went on to make the critically acclaimed film Indus Blues. The members of The Harrisonburg Kurdish American String Ensemble and Jawad used the fortunate coincidence of being in Dubai at the same time to meet. They discussed future collaboration between American and Pakistani artists.
We would like to congratulate GlobalTies U.S. for its work with HDI’s Cultural Envoys and all the American performers they curated for Expo 2020.

Operation Warm is a national nonprofit that provides warmth, confidence, and hope through basic need programs that connect underserved children to community resources they need to thrive. Over the last 22 years, Operation Warm and our partners have used brand-new coats and shoes as a bridge for families in need to access everything from flu shots to new books.

Norristown, PA - The Elmwood Zoo is excited to announce a new project that will result in the planting of over two dozen new trees in and around animal exhibits all throughout the zoo. This project is made possible through the generous support of the Cosmo Cares Foundation and is spearheaded by the Foundation’s Program Director and Elmwood Park Zoo Board Member, Morgan DeNicola.
These trees will be serving so many great purposes throughout the zoo! Not only will they add to the zoo’s overall beauty, but they’ll provide shade for our animals and guests, produce scents that will add enrichment to the animal enclosures, and certain select tree species will produce browse for the giraffes to eat.
In addition to support from the Cosmo Cares Foundation, Corbo Tree & Landscaping Service will be helping source and plant the various species throughout the zoo, like this serviceberry tree now making its home in the red panda exhibit.
