Cosmo DeNicola Companies chairman and Programs Manager, Cosmo DeNicola and Morgan DeNicola, in partnership with the American Thoracic Society, presented the 2018 Cosmo DeNicola Companies Scientific Scholarships at this year's ATS . The scholarships were presented to applicants who make outstanding contributions to science in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
This year's winners were Ganiyu Amusa, MBChB, FMCP, FWAP and Maycon Reboredo, PhD. Ganiyu's presentation was surrounded around Cardiovascular Co-Morbidity in Adults with COPD: Prevalence, Associated Factors and Impact on Outcomes Over 450 Days, while Maycon focused on Barriers to Physical Activity in Patients with Chronic Respiratory Diseases.
“Respiratory health is one of our passions along with Global Health. We are proud to honor these great scientists,” stated Cosmo DeNicola.
The applicants completed work with relevancy to the ATS mission, which is to decrease morbidity and mortality from respiratory, critical care and sleep disorders, in Africa or other developing areas.
