Voorhees, NJ - The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) of New Jersey mission is to eliminate animal suffering, promote the importance of the human-animal bond, and improve the role of animals in the well-being of people.
The DeNicola Foundation is proud to help the Animal Welfare Association reach an estimated 750 children in the first year and 1250 students by the end of the second year. In 24 months, the Animal Welfare Association has a goal of reaching upwards of 2000 students with these compassionate educational programs.
Animal Welfare Association proposes creating a STEAM and empathy-based school outreach program that will be free for students within Camden County. As part of the program schools will be offered a series of 3 animal related lessons to be delivered in the classroom by an Animal Welfare Association educator.
The Animal Welfare Association believes that creating a human-animal bond is paramount to promoting more responsible pet ownership and successfully keeping pets in homes, also creating that bond starts by creating empathy. “Empathy is an important and deeply necessary skill to have for a successful and positively impactful life. Animals are a natural bridge for children to learn such an important lesson”, says Morgan DeNicola Executive Director of the DeNicola Family Foundation.
